Here goes nothing!!!

Here it is!!! My very 1st project with my Cricut Expression.

Because I wasn't all that pleased with my initial card I decided to work on something small.  Something to maybe boost my confidence.

I must say I am pretty pleased!!!! 

The next one was a boo boo that I made work.  When I was cutting the decorative paper I didn't calculate very well and it cut off the very edge of it.  Instead of throwing it away I decided to make it work.  I covered with leaves and a flower.  Goo Mee!!!

Here is a picture of all of the one's I created today.  I am really excited because I had them done in no time.  All of these were made with the Plantin Schoolbook and Serenade Cartridge. 

I hope I have inspired just one of my readers.  If so my job for the day is done.

Undecided...

I must begin by saying Happy New Year to all and I hope your year is all that you've imagined thus far.  I know for me 2009 was a bit rough with family sickness and death.  I am truly hoping that 2010 is  a better year.

Well as I said before I received a Cricut Expression for Christmas from my parents and it has been a little challenging.  The infomercials sure do make it look so easy to whip something out and in no time flat they have the cutest new design.

I am NOT so lucky.  Here is my first project.  I was going to make my very first card for my SIL on her wedding.  You may ask "Why black?"  Well that was the color of her bridesmaid dresses. 

I must admit this looks much better in the photo than it does in person.  The problem I have is that..well I just don't know what to do on the inside.  I'm not very good at being creative for one thing and maybe I'm just now very confident in myself.  Another issue I have is that some of the cartridges are just a little pricey so I am a little hesitant when it comes to increasing my cartridge collection. 

If anyone knows where I could get cartridges for a discounted price PLEASE let me know.  It's pretty liminting when you only have 2 cartridges. 

I almost forgot....I didn't give her the card, I bought one!!  ;o(

Truly Blessed...

Christmas is now over and I must say...I am truly blessed!! I have a wonderful healthy family and great friends whom I love dearly. My husband has been so generous this year in that he bought me my very first NICE high tech camera. I am still learning the basics and I've had it for a few weeks. I am also extremely pumped about my very own CRICUT EXPRESSION!!!! YAAAAAYYYYYY!!! I cannot wait to start creating all sorts of new things. The possabillities are endless!!!

I'm super excited about all of these material things but I am truly greatful for the health of myself and my family. My brother is on his way to recovery and doing great. He goes back to work on Monday!!! So proud of him!!

Oh Christmas Tree..Oh Christmas Tree....

I must say as the Christmas Holiday is fastly approaching I am a bit saddened because this is one of my favorite holidays and I just love spending time around the house with nothing on but the lights from my tree. It's just such a warm feeling.

This year has really been special for us because last year we were unable to put a tree due to some damage from Hurricane Gustav. Now that all of the construction has wrapped up we are finally back to living normal...whatever normal may be!!!

My New Christmas Present!!!

This year my husband has decided that I need to get me Christmas present early so I can learn to use it before Christmas. I was very hesitant with the idea because I didn't think it was fair for us to open gifts too early. He assured me that I REALLY needed to get my gift early. So with little arm twisting I gave in. And here is what i got:

I was absolutely ecstatic when I opened this. I had been asking for a NICE camera for some time now and well he really came through for me this year.

Now for those of us who are used to only using a Kodak point and shoot camera this is extremely overwhelming. I am currently looking into a photography class at the local University but the bad news is that it's already full. ;o(

If anyone has any good links or ideas for me to familiarize myself with my new toy I would be greatly appreciative.

1st Vintage Purchase...

I am absolutely extatic...I made my 1st vintage purchase yesterday. I went to the one and only antique store we have in town called JaJa's Antiques and purchased my very 1st set of vintage buttons.

I'm using them to make snowflake ornaments that I've seen on The DIY Showoff! The husband and I have decided to make our tree feel very homey like the rest of our house. It's the traditional red and gold and green. We've included vintage feel ornaments and want to include some homemade one's as well. I'll post pictures as soon as they're done.

M...I...A!!!

I must begin by apologizing because I have been gone for some time now. Life has been a bit trying this past month or so and as for before then well I've just been slacking. To get you up to date with me...I'll keep it short.

Our shed is coming a long quite well. My hubby has been working very long hours to get it all to his liking. He is doing lots of work himself...thank god...he's saving us loads of money by doing this himself.

As for this past month or so life has been kind of rough. A little bit of history: My brother at the age of 5 was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma. I at the time was 8 years old. He underwent 3 years of chemo and radiation and at the age of 8 was put into remission. He is now 23 years old and up until a month ago was doing wonderful. A while back he began waking up every morning with a headache. He would take advil like most of us would and go about his day. Then he noticed that they were slowly getting worse and a little more often than just in the morning. As time went on I told my mom that I noticed his eyes were kind of bulging. Kind of like someone who has thyroid issues. She said she had noticed it to and that he had an oncology check up coming up and would bring it to his attention. Well the day of the check up Jason told his Oncologist that he had been having headaches and he noticed his eyesight was beginning to blur. The Dr. ordered an MRI to be done on the Friday of the same week of his appointment. He went in the Friday did the MRI at about 3 in the afternoon and by 4 he was being admitted into the hospital because a tumor the size of a hardball was discovered in his head. At this point our worse nightmare has come back..all we think of is "The CANCER is back!" Later on that evening after many doctors made their rounds it was determined that this was a Meningioma. This is a tumor that develops as a side effect of having radiation as a child. They are saying that it's about a 95% chance that this is not cancer. Wow...that was a huge sign of relief. After a few procedures and 9 1/2 hours of brain surgery the tumor has been removed as of Oct. 20th. He is doing much better, however, his R eye is still swollen with no vision. He is dealing with this probably like any one of us would. He has his ups and downs but is actually getting around. We aren't sure why his vision has been affected in his R eye but we're hoping and praying that it comes back in time. All prayers are very much welcomed and greatly appreciated. My family and I believe that prayers and strong faith is what helped him survive cancer as a child and is what will get us through this leg of his journey through life.
